HEMLOCK VALLEY TRAILS CLUB
SAFETY - SUSTAINABILITY - STEWARDSHIP
and FUN
July 1, 2011 Long Weekend ATV Poker Run
Hey Gang,
This is our first news letter.
Keep a copy because it may be collector’s item one day.
As an all inclusive club and it would be great if our news letter header included a collage
of pictures of everyone’s favorite trails activity.
So, if you have any pictures send them along.
Activists Needed Okay it’s time to step up to the plate.
We need a steering committee to help get things started.
It would be great to have at least one person from each trail activity for input and ideas.
Kelly LeCroix, (a long time local sledder), has already done some work with The Province on
trail maps and he has committed to become our Trails Director for now.
So we need a hiker, biker, ATVer, etc.
Our email address is trailsclub@telus.net—how clever is that?
We could also use a communications person to help make sure
that all of our members are kept in the loop.
Want a little outdoor fun?
A group of volunteers is getting together for a ‘Bridge Party’ on Easter weekend.
This project is being launched by South West All Terrain Trails.
They take trails safety very seriously and we can expect to see these upgrades regularly.
This team has everything well organized and will provide lunch for all.
As they put it, “Come out and be a part of our first approved bridge construction project,
have some fun, learn or share a skill, meet some new people,
spend the weekend and take off and go for a ride.”
Winter is approaching quickly and a few have been caught off guard by the early snow.
La Nina should be bringing us lots of snow for great ski conditions this year.
I don't know about you but I am waxing my ski's in anticipation of the Dec.16, 2010 opening day.

Who ever you are who dropped off the Hide-a-Bed at the
Hemlock Transfer Station on the weekend of January 16, 2010.
Misuse of the station is still a big problem for the FVRD.

The bin at the transfer station is for household garbage only.
Furniture, appliances and construction waste are not to be
"dumped" at this site.
The Hide-a-Bed you dumped was pushed off
the back of the ramp by the snow removal equipment and left
there until some kind residents of Hemlock cleaned up your mess.
Missuse of the Hemlock Transfer Station may have repercussions
in the near future, securing of the site with fencing and restricted
drop off times or the worst being the removal of the site.
The least you could have done would have been to dump the
Hide-a-Bed into the bin, it's illegal but so is leaving your mess out
in the open.
