Did you know that we have a group of very dedicated homeowners on the Hemlock Valley Volunteer Fire Department that volunteer their time every second Saturday? These committed firefighters turn out for practices regardless of the weather, or time of year (practices take place during both on and off season), in order to train. Did you also know that some members on the force have done so for more than ten years? Now that’s commitment! As well, the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Safety Officer and Captain also participate in further, additional training sessions in order to first learn about, and then teach, the most recent and up-to-date information available regarding fire behaviour and fire suppression techniques. Further, all volunteers also receive on-going training in forest fire suppression, first aid, and how to assist Hemlock Valley Resort personnel in ski lift evacuation in the case of an emergency.
It is reassuring to know we have a dedicated volunteer fire department that is prepared, to the very best of its ability, to protect us and our family, our property and our belongings. HVHA would therefore like to take this opportunity to not only say “thank you” but also “Good on You!” for your continued and unwavering commitment to the Hemlock Valley Community.
